Maybe i don't understand something, but why bother jail-breaking? Just define a new wireless network on your mac, it will receive a self-assigned IP and have no internet connection. Then, connect your iPad to that newly defined network, and go to that self-assigned IP instead of localhost. So, if you have any server running on, say port 8080 on your mac, then on your ipad go to http://self-assigned-IP:8080/

Can you re-open your web app on an iPhone/iPad, 3 days later, when offline and with all Safari tabs are closed and it runs? That's like the Holy Grail from where I'm standing though I see no reason why it shouldn't work. Safari always says "Cannot open the Page because it is not connected to the internet".

Nice site. I was reading over your stuff regarding full screen for Safari on a iPad. Can you tell me if that could apply the same line of code into a header on a website and it would remove the status and navigation bars? See I'm building a website to be used as a Kiosk for our company and would like to utilize the entire full screen of the iPad. I've downloaded some of the free browsers that have full screen but none of them display my site as well as Safari does. Any comments would be appreciated.

Huh not sure how that would work. My best guess is it's an underlying problem in the backgrounding process that apple uses. May have to wait on ios5.

what about background mode? right now, if a user puts safari in the background, any ajax events that occur wont be propagated correct? any way to address that?
